PDF and image functions for Ignition scripts.

Artek-Utilities adds scripting functions for the PDF and image work Ignition does not do on its own: turn PDF pages into images a report can show, merge or split documents, shrink a PDF, and set a phone photo upright. It is free, under the Apache License 2.0.

What it adds

Eleven functions in two groups

Each function takes file contents as a byte array, so it works on uploads, files read from disk and documents stored in a database. They are available in gateway, Designer and client scripts.

PDF

Under system.artek

  • convertPDFToImageEach page of a PDF as an image, so a report or a view can show it
  • mergeMultiPDFSeveral PDFs combined into one
  • splitPDFPagesA PDF split into single pages
  • compressPDFA smaller PDF, made by lowering page resolution
  • addWatermarkA text watermark added to a PDF
  • extractTextFromPDFThe text of a PDF
  • getPDFMetadataDocument information such as title, author and page count

Images

Under system.artek.imagehelper

  • getImageDimensionsAn image’s width and height
  • resizeImageAn image resized to a new width and height
  • processImageWithOrientationA phone photo set upright using the orientation stored in its metadata

Install

Installation takes four steps

  1. Download the build for your Ignition line and check its SHA-256.
  2. If an older Artek-Utilities module (io.artekis.Artek-Utilities) is installed, uninstall it first. This release replaces it.
  3. In the Gateway, open the module list: on Ignition 8.1, Config, then System, then Modules; on Ignition 8.3, Platform, then System, then Modules. Choose Install or Upgrade and upload the file.
  4. Accept the license and, the first time, the Artek, LLC certificate. The functions are then available to every script on the gateway.
